The Columbus Blue Jackets will salute those who have served and are currently serving in the nation's armed forces at the club's annual military night, presented by Elk + Elk, on Thursday, January 5. when the team hosts the Washington Capitals at Nationwide Arena. 7 p.m. and the first 10,000 fans will receive a Blue Jackets branded camouflage camo hat courtesy of Elk + Elk. The evening will feature targeted activities, fundraisers and tributes to show support and appreciation for all active duty military members and their families.
The Blue Jackets will host more than 1,000 military members and their families representing USO Ohio, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Rickenbacker Air Force Base, the US Air National Guard and more. All fans in attendance are encouraged to share their Army Headshots with the hashtag #CBJUSA.
It starts at 5 p.m. Fans can support USO Ohio by donating pre-packaged food items such as belts, clothing boxes, beef jerky and mixes. The collection of COTA-sponsored items will include USO volunteers outside the gates from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring refills to the COTA bus located on Front Plaza Road. Donations help USO lounges across Ohio provide respite to veterans and their families. Donors will receive a voucher to purchase tickets to an upcoming Blue Jackets game.

For the evening's Military Tribute, the Blue Jackets will welcome Air Force Staff Sergeant Robert Hickman, a World War II veteran from Newark, Ohio. Hickman will appear during the National Anthem and will be seen at first.
